Scrap City Survivors is a hybrid survival action and tower defense game where players utilize power gathered from enemies you defeat to enhance your base and defend yourself from the enemy waves. The goal is to fill the power bar to complete the level, while spending power on upgrades to defend yourself from the enemy horde.
The amount of energy gathered from defeated enemies is multiplied by the different "difficulty" zones but the enemies are tougher as well. As the difficulty increases, unique tower upgrades become available, which bolster the player's defenses.
With a team of 6, this project was made with the goal of making a highly versatile game that is challenging, has replayability, and can be easily customized and iterated upon for further installments.
As the lead Unity programmer, I implemented the tower upgrade system, upgrade UI, and a custom upgrade tree using the Unity Editor, while also designing the enemy and tower AI alongside the damage system.
As the project lead, I organized the sprints, managed the distribution of programming tasks, and kept my team on track with completing the deliverables before crucial deadlines. Additionally, I maintained the code integrity of the project by overseeing the version control. I gained valuable experience in team management, effective communication, and strategic project planning. Although the role was demanding, I truly believe that this was a rewarding experience as I balanced creativity with restraints , adapted to industry standards, and celebrated my team's successes.
